Hello, hi, and welcome!
I am thrilled to announce the online re-launch of March Hamilton! That means: a whole new website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram- and a brand new owner! I wanted to take the time to introduce myself, our brilliant books, and our plans for the coming months.
My name is Melissa, and I’m the new director at March Hamilton. I’ve been working hard behind the scenes since I took over in March, creating sites with a fresh new look. I hope you like what we have as much as I do, and that you will give us a like or a follow on our social channels. I’ll be active on these channels over the coming months, announcing lots of exciting new projects and new titles so I hope you’ll get involved.
In addition to this, I have been working hard with authors to strike a fair deal with new contracts and working relationships. One of the things that is most important to me is developing a transparent relationships with the authors we publish. This means being upfront about royalties, where I am selling books, how I produce our titles etc. I think accountability in publishing is really important for everyone within the industry, it’s something that I am very passionate about and plan to work on constantly.
I have also been looking at how March Hamilton can get involved with the community around us. This has meant getting involved with events in the South West, talking to booksellers, and building an infrastructure that supports aspiring authors and publishers near us. More details of this to come in later weeks- I’m super excited to tell you all about it!
Finally I just wanted to give thanks to the people who have already supported me in getting to the re-launch stage. Firstly March Hamilton’s first client, Beth Webb, who has already been brilliant. She is truly such a joy to publish, and I can’t wait to keep building on the work we have already done together. I also want to thank the always supportive faculty on the Publishing Media degree at Oxford Brookes, especially Leander Reeves, Sarah Franklin, Beverley Tarquini, Jane Potter and Philip Shaw. And as always, I would never have been able to take this huge responsibility on without the support of my family.
